Why X53 Exists

X53 Studios was born from frustration and a personal gamble.

I got tired of watching mainstream comics lose their nerve: the real danger, the genuine consequences, the characters who felt alive instead of focus-grouped into safety. With my own savings and no corporate safety net, I stopped waiting for someone else to fix it.

X for the unknown. 53 for the age it all began. Five years later: five original series, thousands of readers across Kickstarter and formerly Indiegogo, and not a single story told by committee.

What We Make

X53 publishes original, creator-owned comics drawn from the full tradition of pulp storytelling: the danger of classic pulp magazines, the attitude of bronze age comics, and the raw energy of grindhouse cinema.

These are stories with real stakes. Characters who bleed. Villains who win sometimes. Heroines who are complex, dangerous, and never what you expect.

No sanitizing. No checklists. No editorial gatekeepers deciding what readers can handle. Just honest, fearless storytelling, funded directly by the readers who want it.

How We Work

Every X53 title launches on Kickstarter before it reaches the store. That's not a workaround, it's the model. Reader funding means creative freedom. No publisher telling us to soften an ending or redesign a character for mass appeal.
